Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy working environment for employees, keeping neighboring facilities or community members feeling safe, and satisfying the mandatory environmental compliance obligations set forth by the EPA and State Agencies.

Here are some key points:

  • Health and Safety:  Organizations like OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, and other PSM authorities frequently request investigations into IAQ.  However, sometimes concerns may arise from neighboring facilities or vigilant employees.

  • Environmental Compliance: While IAQ is often associated with health and safety, it’s also relevant to environmental considerations.  The EPA and State Agencies are primarily concerned with Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs).

    • VOCs & HAPs: Each chemical on the regulated lists of chemicals for VOCs and HAPs have very specific thresholds to remain under in order to stay in compliance.  The emissions from every one of these sources at your facility need to be tracked in a specified manner both cumulatively and individually determined by the presiding regulatory agency requiring the tracking.

At ECP, we will help you understand the lengthy rules behind your site-specific chemicals and develop an understandable and practical system for tracking your emissions.  In turn, this leads to tremendously less wasted time from employees and makes reporting easier!  We can also perform testing for your facility and provide a detailed report of personnel sampling or area sampling.  With reliable data, you’ll have the confidence to address any IAQ-related challenges.
